Warmth For Wake
Warmth for Wake is a seasonal energy assistance outreach program that is sponsored by Wake County Human Services. The Wake Forest-Rolesville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi has been participating in this program since 2011. The goal of the program is to provide fuel to low- income residents of Wake County during the coldest winter months. Warmth for Wake achieves their goals by supplying free firewood or space heaters to households who can’t afford to pay for heat or lack heating sources. The project begins in October and ends in March of each year.
During the first year of existence, brothers of The Wake Forest Rolesville Alumni Chapter yearned to find a unique community engagement that positively impacted the community. Warmth for Wake delivers more than 300 cords of wood and 100 household space heaters each year. Since that time, brothers have spent season after season cutting, chopping, loading, and delivering wood to families in need around the community and bonding with each other in the process.
